“Friendship” A Stop Motion Animation WIP
For my stop motion project, I will be telling a charming, silly story of two friends at the beach. When one friend is too insecure to take his shirt off (and is obviously sweating) the other friend tells him his body is beautiful the way he is and he promises he won’t make fun of him. But it’s not his belly he’s ashamed of. When he reluctantly agrees to take his shirt off, we see he has no nipples. Shrugging it off, the other friend peels off one of his own two nippples and gifts it to his nipple-less friend so he would be less embarrassed. True friends will do anything to make you more comfortable! As far as progress I have mostly just elaborate planning done and supply purchasing done. Below is my character design and my storyboard. The real clay heads are seen here, but I’m working on sourcing the right material for realistic tiny sunglasses:
For the beach scene, I ordered moldable play sand for them to sit in (I figured it would be less messy than real sand) and will be painting a realistic summer day sacene on a board behind them. I also ordered real plastic miniature doll glasses. The swim trunks and shirt I will be sewing on the sewing machine at Jay St.
And finally, I purchased a laser cut file to cut and assemble a tiny Adirondack beach chair! I already have wood at school to cut. I will scale it to the size of my set and character. See the model below:
While it's not as far as I hoped I would be, I feel confident with my planning that when I’m back on campus, I’ll be able to move quickly through the process!
